Tang Qi, from the Class of 2005

Tang Qi, from the Class of 2005, obtained a master's and doctoral degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester, as well as a master's degree in Business Administration. He holds the titles of Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Senior Engineer in China. In 2021, he was selected for the Thousand Talents Program in Zhejiang Province and served as the the General Manager of the International Business Division at Ningbo Orient Cable Company. He has led the research and development as well as EPC engineering projects for multiple offshore wind and submarine cable projects in Europe. He previously worked at SSE, the largest power and energy company in the United Kingdom, where he was responsible for grid system planning and investment. He also served as the Chair of the IET Scottish Power and Energy Technology Committee, Executive Member of the IET Global Technology Central Committee, and Secretary-General of the IEEE China Oceanic Engineering Society.
