In 2004, SUEP and Strathclyde launched a joint undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering and Automation. This program focuses on integrating knowledge with practical application and fostering an international outlook. By combining the strengths of both universities, the program aims to cultivate international talents in the energy and electric power sectors for the modern era. It is dedicated to developing professionals with a solid foundation in electrical theories and engineering technologies, strong English proficiency, a spirit of innovation, and a global perspective.

Now in its 20th year, the program has graduated over 1,600 students from 16 cohorts. Recently, nearly 30% of these graduates have been accepted into postgraduate programs both in China and internationally. Over 98% secure employment before graduating. Graduates are highly regarded by electric power companies and other employers for their strong professional knowledge, practical skills, cultural literacy, and their attributes of diligence, dedication, versatility, and innovation.
